Leaving money on the table… part one

by Tom Email

Model photography is all about packaging. Your look differentiates you from everything and everyone else. Everyone in the industry knows it’s what’s on the outside that matters.
Your portfolio’s packaging should say as much about you as the shots contained inside. If your portfolio looks just like every other portfolio out there, you’re potentially leaving work on the table. You’re letting someone else be more memorable than you.

Follow up:

Today’s tight economic climate creates heightened competition for the work that is available. Jobs don’t always go to the person with just the right look. The job often goes to the one that’s the most memorable. Mindshare is a commodity you cannot afford to lose.
Your portfolio’s packaging is just as important as yours. If you “dress for success” at the cattle call and your portfolio shows up in tattered jeans and a holey t-shirt, you’re not winning mindshare. A hardbound portfolio shows potential employers you pay attention to the details.
Differentiate you and your work with a printed and hard bound portfolio book. Gain additional mindshare and momentum with those employers that see it and increase the buzz factor with everyone you do meet. Put more money in your pocket and leave less on the table.
